Welcome to GCW Parade Ground, Jammu!
Established as the first Women college of Jammu Province by Maharani Tara Devi during the rule of then Maharaja Hari Singh, and named appropriately as Maharani Mahila College, this institution has seen good days and has gone through several permutations to reach thus far. On 25th November,1953 Maharani Mahila College was renamed as Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu and since then, it continues to be an institution of eminence. In accordance with the mandate of NEP, GCW Parade Ground is eager for a paradigm shift by introducing a number of skill based courses, vocational courses and research components from this session. With more than 6000 students enrolled to pursue their degrees in various disciplines including PG in Home Science, Computer Applications, Zoology, English and Music, GCW Parade Ground has grown to monumental proportions vis-a-vis infrastructure and academic paraphernalia. We believe in and practise amalgamation of traditional in-class learning with modern day flexible learning methodologies that involve the use of technological advancements to augment content delivery. The concept of collaborative teaching has been implemented in the true spirit by this college by means of having signed MoU with IIT, Jammu besides having its affiliating University, University of Jammu as its mentor in research too thereby opening up avenues for our students. The liberty as envisaged in NEP is reflected in the new course framework adopted by this college. Besides, there are myriad co-curricular activities on offer for the students to opt and excel. It is upto the students now to explore and adopt the opportunities to the hilt and face the future head on!
