The Yuva Tourism Club of GCW Parade Ground Jammu participated in the Tawi festival of arts and ideas at the Amar Mahal museum. Under the Convenorship of Dr. Ainee Ambreena, 13 students of the Club attended Day One of the Festival. The three day Tawi festival has been conceptualized with the aim to honour and revive the rich traditions and culture of Jammu. It celebrates the creativity and traditions of Jammu by bringing together art, music, culture, literature etc. The festival showcases Jammu’s cultural scene in the beautiful landscape of the Amar Mahal. The Festival was inaugurated by Dr. Karan Singh. Giving its visitors a deeper understanding of the beauty and complexity of Jammu’s art, the demonstration and display of Basohli and Kangra miniature style paintings added some unique experience for the visitors. Dogri Traditional Costumes on display in the Maharani Suite was made open to the public by Kanwarani Ritu Singh. These traditional costumes of the Dogra Maharanis, Tara Devi ji and Yashorajya Lakshmi ji was the highlight of the festival. Further, rare books from the collection of Raja Amar Singh dating back to the early 19th century were also displayed there in the library. The visitors were also served amazing lunch showcasing our authentic Dogri cuisine. The students of the club were introduced to the vibrant legacy and forward thinking minds. It was a first of its kind experience for one and all.
